We still haven’t really come to terms with the idea that Rob Lowe’s Chris Traeger will be departing Parks & Recreation before we’re ready (which, for the record, is never). But while he’s definitely leaving the show after Season 5 Episode 13, he’s not leaving NBC, thanks to a new deal.
Deadline reports that the super fit, super handsome actor, who plays a health and exercise nut on the popular ensemble show, will get to continue that streak on his new series, The Pro.
While we’re still not sure how he’ll depart Pawnee, Indiana, Chris and Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) hinted on the October 3 episode that they may move to Bloomington, which would provide a partial out for the actor.
His new series, The Pro, is also a single-camera workplace comedy, but stars Rob as a former tennis doubles champion named “Big Ben” Bertrahm. Once his career flames out and his “misguided investments” drop him down the income ladder, he’s left working as a pro at a golf and tennis club.
The series will be written and directed by industry vets who have cut their teeth on shows like Wonderfalls, Malcolm in the Middle, and Frasier. Rob will serve as executive producer.
Let’s recap, shall we? Rob leaving Parks & Rec? Terrible. Rob getting his own show where he’ll be charming and fit and handsome some more? Love.
