It’s no secret that actor Robert Pattinson is a big music lover. He’s a music festival regular, good friends with Katy Perry, plays guitar and piano, writes his own songs, and sang on two Twilight tracks. And now his friend Brady Corbet says he’s working on his own debut album.
In December 2013, Variety reported that Rob would join Juliette Binoche and Tim Roth in Brady’s directorial debut, The Childhood of a Leader. It was scheduled to start shooting in May in Europe.
Brady recently told The Sun of the UK (via PopCrush) that Rob has “always wanted to be a musician,” and "He's been busy producing his first album, which will be coming soon."
Back in 2008, Rob told MTV, "I was doing music before I started acting, so I still have bits and pieces, and I've been playing in Portland [during the Twilight shoot]. I've been trying to write an album for years and years." Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke added to MTV of Rob, "He's a beautiful musician, a very creative soul, very similar to Edward. He just totally reads the most interesting stuff, and sees the most interesting movies, and is very introspective and diving into his existential self."
Also back in 2008, Rob told the L.A. Times, “Music is my backup plan if acting fails.” Or it could just be a fun side project when acting succeeds! Rob still has several acting projects lined up, and he’s currently at the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival, where he and Guy Pearce, his co-star in The Rover, posed for photos on May 18.
