Looking at Rob Pattinson — and thinking about the kind of work he’s done as an actor — we’d never peg him for the kind of guy who once dreamed of being a rap star. But Rob himself insists that used to be exactly what he wanted.
When Rob sat down on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, he made a pretty startling (and also hilarious) revelation: As a teenager, he tried to break into the rap industry under the name Big Tub! Yes. Big Tub. This is a real thing.
“I was very paranoid about my weight,” the Twilight star explained. “I got quite sick in the last couple of days and I’m so excited about it. Next week I’m going to be so skinny!”
Rob was so serious about becoming a rapper that he even recorded some of his songs, admittedly without much success.
“I didn’t know how to scratch so I used to pull up and down the zip on my hoodie and record it,” Rob said. “It sounds exactly like it … Big Tub and the Tabby Cats.”
So will we ever hear any of Big Tub’s finest work? Last month, Rob’s friend revealed that he’s reportedly working on his debut album, but we have a feeling none of his old rap songs will make the cut. Bummer!
Are you surprised Rob used to rap, or do you think he might not actually be bad at it?
