We think we speak for a lot of folks when we say that we really thought "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton, were gonna make it. While some raised their eyebrows at Robin getting his grind on with then-20-year-old Miley Cyrus at the 2013 VMAs, Paula responded to questions about the incident by grinding on Al Roker. They'd defied the Hollywood relationship odds — they met in their mid-teens way back in 1991. The pair didn't even rush into things too fast, waiting until 2005 to get married and 2010 to have their first child.
However, sometimes the couples you think are built to last split up anyway. Robin and Paula announced their separation earlier today, February 24, in a statement to People. “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” they say of the split. Say it ain't so!
We can speculate about all kinds of things here: Did the VMA performance set the split in motion? Did this have something to do with Robin Thicke getting spotted with not-his-wife at a club last month? Did Paula finally admit that she can't stand Growing Pains, starring Robin's dad Alan Thicke?
Any of those could or could not be true. But we do have some hard facts about this couple: One of them is a year or so older than the other. Which one was born first — Robin or Paula? Click through for the answer!
