Game of Thrones Up for Royal Award

Who needs the Emmys? Game of Thrones is up for an award worthy of royalty, specifically, they’re in the running for a Royal Television Society Award.

The UK’s Royal Television Society has nominated GoT for the award for Best International Show, where it will face off against The Returned, a science fiction series from France, and Storyville: Pussy Riot, a television documentary about the eponymous Russian protest group. Nothing against those other two shows, which we’re sure are terrific programs, but we’re pretty confident Game of Thrones has this one in the bag. USA! USA! USA!

Since GoT is up for Best International Show, we wonder if they’ll get bonus points for filming in so many different countries. They’ve filmed in Ireland, Iceland, Morocco, Croatia — if they don’t win Best International Show, they should at least win Most International Show! Also, The Royal Television Society is the world’s oldest television society, so they obviously know what they’re doing in case you couldn’t tell from their nomination of Game of Thrones.

The Royal Television Society Awards are set to take place in London on March 18 and will be hosted by British comedian and actor Tim Vine.
