Royal Baby Boy: President Obama Releases Statement
The arrival of a royal baby is a time of celebration for all — including political allies.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama released a statement congratulating Prince William and Kate Middleton on the birth of their first child, a little boy born July 22. In the statement, President Obama referenced the "special relationship" between the U.S. and the U.K. (Remember when we hated them, back about 240 years ago?)
"Michelle and I are so pleased to congratulate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the joyous occasion of the birth of their first child," the statement reads (via E! News). "We wish them all the happiness and blessings parenthood brings. The child enters the world at a time of promise and opportunity for our two nations. Given the special relationship between us, the American people are pleased to join with the people of the United Kingdom as they celebrate the birth of the young prince."
Prince Charles released his own happy statement on being a first-time grandpa. For his part, proud papa Prince William simply said, "We could not be happier." That’s how it should be!
