Rupert Grint Can Sing! Listen to His Pop Track “Lightning” Now (VIDEO)
Who knew Ron Weasley could sing? If being an Auror doesn’t work out, Ron, the Weird Sisters could always use a new frontman. All Hogwarts jokes aside, Harry Potter star Rupert Grint surprised us all by releasing a new pop song last week — and it’s actually pretty good!
The song, called “Lightning,” is featured on the soundtrack for Postman Pat: The Movie. In addition to singing the track, the 25-year-old actor also voices Josh, Pat’s talent show rival in the big screen adaptation of the British children’s television show. However, it turns out the actor wasn’t expecting to have a single of the soundtrack at all!
“I didn't really expect it to happen,” Rupert told Den Of Geek. “When they said, ‘Do you want to sing?’ I just said yeah. I thought it could be funny, could be a laugh. I didn't realize there'd be an album. It was fun, and they can do some clever things with the old autotune stuff. It came out pretty well!”
OK, so maybe he had some help from autotune, but at least he’s admitting it. It sounds like there won’t be a Rupert Grint solo album anytime soon. Of course, the option to become the sixth member of One Direction still stands. And at least we have the sugary sweetness that is “Lightning” to tide us over. Seriously! This song is so bubblegum, it will give you a toothache — it’s just like eating five chocolate frogs at once.
Listen to “Lightning” below and tell us what you think of Rupert’s singing in the comments.
