Ryan Gosling may have been keeping things quiet of late, but word on the street is he’s planning a big return! The former Mouseketeer may be tapping into his musical roots for an upcoming project, and just the barest details have us going gaga for the Gos once again.
The 33-year-old Canadian cutie may direct and even star in a new movie based on the life of Busby Berkeley. B.B.’s name may not be familiar to you, but his work from the early days of motion pictures most likely is. Busby was the fellow behind those visually stunning montages of synchronized dancers in classic films like Footlight Parade and Dames. See what we’re talking about in the video above.
Any movie adaptation of Busby’s busy life is still only in the early stages (there’s no writer attached as of publishing). But as ClevverTV points out, the project’s already got a big supporter in the form of producer Marc Platt — one of the folks behind Broadway’s Wicked. That kind of musical backing has us hoping Ryan might be tying on his tap shoes.
Even if musicals aren’t your thing, we still suggest you watch the video for the prime cut of 1990s throwback clips, showing us the kind of pipes Ryan has to work with. Oh and little JC Chavez and Justin Timberlake make appearances, as well. NBD.
