We're green with envy of whomever gets to live in Ryan Reynolds's former home. In fact, Ryan just sold the home for a lot less than he originally paid for it. So how much money did he lose?
The 37-year-old Green Lantern star purchased the home — located in the hills above the Sunset Strip, but without a view of the city below — for $1,715,000 in October 2007. But he was quickly ready to let go of the pad, as he put it on the market in the fall of 2009 for $1.9 million. Apparently, the home didn't fit into the plans of Ry-Ry and then-wife Scarlett Johansson.
But Ryan wasn't able to find a buyer, so the home went off the market six months later. He put it back on the market in July 2011, this time asking for just $1.69 million. Again, there were no takers, so he kept cutting money off of the asking price. Apparently, it's hard out there for the home of a Hollywood stud.
Finally, Ryan found a buyer in January 2014, with the home selling for $1,405,000. This is still a pretty penny, but it is $310,000 less than what Ryan paid for it initially. Somehow, we think he'll survive. Ryan and wife Blake Lively now live in Bedford, NY. Ryan is known for such films as Safe House, The Proposal, and Van Wilder.
So what does the buyer of Ryan's old home get, besides getting to brag about sleeping where People's "Sexiest Man Alive" of 2010 once slept? The 1,789 square-foot home consists of 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, along with solar heating, French doors throughout, a cook's kitchen, and a lovely patio and landscaped yard.
Are you surprised that Ryan had so much trouble selling his house?
