Samuel Larsen: 5 Things to Know About Glee’s Newest Star
The Glee Project’s Samuel Larsen made his Glee debut on tonight's February 14 Valentine’s Day ep, “Heart,” and we couldn’t be more excited about it! You've met Joe Hart, now get to know the man behind Glee's newest heartthrob.
5. He’s been a musician since the age of... 3!
Yep, that’s right! Samuel is said to have started hammerin’ away at the drums ― that’s probably the best way to describe the skills of a 3 year old, right? ― at a young age as part of his father’s band. His sticks had to be cut in half so he could manage them! Adorbs!! At the age of 12 his interest extended to the bass, then guitar, and then keyboards. He’s currently in a band called Bridges I Burn.
Sam did some modeling for designer Ashton Michael, and even walked the runway as recently as last November. (Photos, please! Where are they?)
While he never expected his faith to play a role in landing him a part on Glee, it was also one of the things that caught Ryan Murphy’s eye. He told TV Line of the experience, “You have to be very secure in your faith to approach this business. I certainly never thought it would be a topic of inspiration… but I think this proves it’s not always working against you.”
Sam “made it to Hollywood” on the 2010 season of American Idol, but got cut before the semi-finals. He also is said to have been a finalist for the role of Sam Evans (!!!), but ― as we know ― lost it to our dear Chord Overstreet.
1. He’s great pals with Glee’s other Project newbie, Damian.
The two did some serious bonding while competing against each other, so much so that Samuel described their both winning as feeling like he “had won twice.” He said of Damian McGinty (Rory), “I really get that guy and I was thrilled to share our dreams coming true with him.” Awww!!
