Sandra Bullock’s messy divorce from motorcycle customizer Jesse James may be full of the kind of juicy stuff that keeps tabloids in print, but three years after their scandal-fueled split, the Gravity star is in a healthy place about the end of their marriage.
Sandra, who is Vogue’s October cover girl, opens up to the magazine about her simpler life these days with son Louis, with whom she spends most of her time in Austin, Texas.
With motherhood surpassing movies as the main focus of her life, Sandra explains what she’s willing to sacrifice, should Louis begin to lose out on a childhood because of her career.
“I don’t want [Louis] to have pressures brought on by what I do. I will quit. I will leave. If I see whatever I’m doing affecting him negatively, I will pack up and move to Alaska,” she explains.
While she and Louis’ tight-knit family unit was born out of a difficult period in her life, Sandra says more children aren’t out of the question, especially now that things have slowed down for the single mom.
“I’m just sort of seeing where life goes,” says the actress. “If all of a sudden someone said, ‘You have five more kids,’ I’d be totally OK with it… I’m having such an amazing time. Whatever comes our way, we handle as a family. It’s not just me anymore.”
Despite Jesse James’ absence from Louis’ life since the couple split, Sandra seems to be in a good place regarding her ex.
“We’re all where we’re supposed to be,” she says. “I am exactly where I want to be now. You can’t go backward. I’m not going backward. I’m grateful that I’m here, blessed to have what I have. Nobody can be prepared for anything.”
