Grey’s Anatomy Star Sarah Drew: 5 Fun Facts!

We all know and love April Kepner on Grey’s Anatomy, but how much do you know about portrayer Sarah Drew? Though we’ve loved her since her days on Everwood (R.I.P.), there are still so many things that we don’t know about the adorable actress.

To celebrate Sarah, we’ve rounded up five fun facts about her. Check ‘em out below, and then tell us your favorite trivia tidbit in the comments!

1. She’s related to another teen drama actor from the early ‘00s. Fans of The O.C. and Everwood, your minds are about to be blown: Sarah Drew and Ben McKenzie (aka Ryan Atwood) are second cousins! Now, if only they’d collaborate on-screen.

2. Recognize her voice? It may be from her days on Daria! While Sarah was still in high school, she voiced Stacy Rowe on Daria and its two television movies, Is It Fall Yet? and Is It College Yet?

3. Her breakout role was as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Though it wasn’t on Broadway or anything too crazy, Sarah’s professional stage debut was as the infamous Juliet in a Princeton, New Jersey production of Romeo and Juliet.

4. She’s been on three Shonda shows! Sarah first worked with Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes on Private Practice, then was cast on the sadly-not-picked-up pilot Inside the Box in 2009. After that, she was brought on to play April.

5. She loves vampires and procedurals. Though her taste may have changed over the years, back in 2010, Sarah revealed her favorite shows were House, Bones, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and Rookie Blue (which her former co-star Gregory Smith stars on)!
