Sarah Jessica Parker to Return to TV in New Crime Drama Busted (VIDEO)
Sarah Jessica Parker may be returning to TV, but don't expect her to be blogging about single women, emotionally unavailable guys, and Manolo Blahniks.
No, the Sex and the City star is considering a starkly different role, as she's attached to an hour-long crime drama series titled Busted.
The series is an adaptation of Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love by Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker. It’s based on their Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation into the corrupt narcotics squad of the Philadelphia Police Department, with the help of a confidential informant who came to the Philadelphia Daily News hoping to expose the squad's criminal activities.
"Busted chronicles how these two journalists — both middle-class working mothers — formed an unlikely bond with a convicted street dealer to uncover the secrets of ruthless kingpins and dirty cops," reads the synopsis. "[They] had few resources — besides their own grit and tenacity — to break a dangerous, complex story that would expose the rotten underbelly of a modern American city and earn them a Pulitzer Prize."
Deadlinestates that SJP is attached one of two lead roles, which we take to mean she'll play either Wendy or Barbara. The project has a writer, director, and a production company — the same one that produced True Detective — but so far no network has been announced.
