Uh-oh! On this week's episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we saw Kenya Moore and NeNe Leakes face off yet again after NeNe attended Kenya's event for the charity Saving Our Daughters. As it turns out, not only did NeNe put a damper on the evening by giving a cold-shouldered speech that embarrassed Kenya, but now the charity is coming forward to claim that they never received any money from the event.
According to Reality Tea, Saving Our Daughters released a (now-deleted) statement on their site, which both acknowledged NeNe's long-standing support for their organization and discredited Kenya's claim that she raised "thousands" of dollars for them.
"On February 16, 2014, Saving Our Daughters was mentioned on the episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta as being honored with a fundraiser on its behalf. Our charity was contacted by publicist April Love to get approval and give notice of this upcoming event. Much to our delight, we were indeed honored to be chosen. After all, one of our largest financial contributors, Mrs. NeNe Leakes who has been responsible for contributions in the thousands of dollars throughout the years, is a member of the cast," the statement read.
After sharing that they weren't happy about NeNe being a surprise guest of honor — as they like to have all the details beforehand — they concluded, "In closing, Ms. Kenya Moore stated that thousands of dollars were raised at this event. To protect the integrity of Saving Our Daughters, our records show that we did not receive any of the proceeds raised from Ms. Moore’s masquerade ball."
Kenya didn't take long to cough up proof to Love B. Scott that she did pay up. However, her receipts and check copies reflect the expenses she had to put on the event, plus a personal donation from her — not copies of checks from monies raised at the masquerade party.
It looks like the verdict is still out on this controversy and we're sure we haven't heard the last of it.
