Scandal Season 3: Scott Foley Upped to Series Regular!

Scott Foley’s Scandal contract is handled. Though his character, Jake Ballard, wasn’t looking so good in the Season 2 finale, he’ll be back to reprise his role as a series regular come Season 3.

“I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,” Scott raved in a statement to TVLine, who first reported the news. “Shonda [Rhimes] and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”

As a refresher, his mysterious character wooed Olivia Pope while working for her on-again, off-again love — the President of the United States (aka Tony Goldwyn’s phenomenal Fitz). We won’t spoil the twists and turns of the Shonda Rhimes drama for you, but things got crazy, blood was shed, and well... you’ll have to watch to find out the nitty gritty.

TVLine notes that back when he first joined the show, Scott said there was a “possibility of permanence” and that he and Shonda “talked about something longer.” Basically, he loves the show, saying, “I’d love to be there as long as they’ll have me.” Thankfully, his dreams came true and we’ll be seeing much more of Jake next season.
