Scandal Scores Syndication Deal at BET, Will Marathon Both Seasons in August 2013

If you’re one of the few who still haven’t caught up on Scandal, you’re in luck — a new syndication deal with BET has the situation handled. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network will start airing both seasons of the hit ABC drama in August with two 14-hour marathons. Basically, set your DVRs and/or be prepared to not leave your couch for a day and a half.

Season 1, which is notably only seven episodes, will kick off on Saturday, August 10, followed by a few episodes from Season 2. It will air from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT. Then, the following week, Season 2 will continue on Saturday, August 17 at the same time, concluding the next Wednesday, August 21, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET/PT.

But wait, there’s more! Once both seasons are done airing, the series will start over on Wednesdays until Season 3 premieres on ABC on Thursday, October 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Phew! That’s a lot of fixing for Olivia Pope and a lot of drama to tune in for, but it’s worth it. Notably, THR also reveals that new episodes will “air no sooner than eight days after original first-run episodes” on BET. This is, of course, in addition to the first two seasons streaming on Netflix, Hulu, and

This early syndication deal is amazing news for Shonda Rhimes & Co., and we couldn’t be more excited. With this in combination with Kerry Washington and Dan Bucatinsky’s Emmy nominations, this summer couldn’t get any better for the Scandal team.
