If we had to pick one show we really can’t wait to return from the excruciatingly long summer hiatus, we’d choose Shonda Rhimes’ political drama Scandal. The ABC show’s sophomore season ended with the world finding out that Olivia is President Grant’s mistress, just as she was unexpectedly reunited with her father, who just so happens to be the director of the CIA offshoot B613.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with star Jeff Perry (Cyrus Beene) at the Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy party on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Fig + Olive in West Hollywood, California, and he told reporters about how Season 3 is  going so far and much more!

Calling Season 3 “so much fun,” Jeff is just as eager as we are to see how Olivia will deal with her own massive mess. Like Olivia and Mellie, Cyrus is also driven by his desire to find the leak.

“The truth came out about Liv and Fitz, and Cyrus of course as a political strategist is like how did this horrible untruth, nasty allegation get out there? So Cyrus and Mellie are in league together figuring out who was the leak, who is responsible for this? We chase that…rabidly.”

And while Cyrus usually relies on others to do his dirty work for him, it looks like he’ll be getting jerked around quite a bit in Season 3 Jeff explained, “Somewhere in the first couple of episodes Cyrus is transported to a very ominous location for a very crucial meeting. He’s transported in a trunk of a car.”

As for Olivia’s pops, Rowan, Jeff teases that his relationship with Olivia is a crucial part of Season 3 so far. “We find out more about Rowan and Olivia’s relationship and some of their backstory. Rowan’s, the only person in the world, I think, who scares Cyrus.”

Scandal Season 3 premieres on October 3 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Will you be watching?
