One of the biggest baddies from the mid-2000s drama Heroes has just booked a mystery role on Season 3 of Scandal. Jack Coleman, who played Claire’s (Hayden Panettiere) devious and morally questionable father Noah Bennet on the superhero drama, will appear in multiple episodes of Scandal this year.
TV Guide reports the news, but notes that details on the role are being kept under wraps. Translation: We know nothing about his character or storyline. However, if Jack’s character is anything like his Heroes alter-ego — nicknamed Horn-Rimmed Glasses, or HRG — then Olivia Pope and her A-team had better watch their backs. HRG did some pretty devious things over the years, including, but not limited to, stalking, kidnapping, and facilitating human torture. (Hmm, sounds to us like your average episode of Scandal. We imagine he’d fit right in with some of Olivia’s foes.)
Of course, the show could throw us for a loop and have Jack’s character end up being one of the good guys. That could be the biggest twist of all. But our money’s on him being some or other type of crooked politician. There are plenty of them in D.C., and Jack certainly has the look to pull it off.
He will be the third new cast member in a recurring role for Scandal Season 3. Friends vet Lisa Kudrow and Private Practice’s Paul Adelstein are also joining the show, but details about their roles are being guarded with equal secrecy.
Long story short: Scandal’s Thursday, October 3, premiere just needs to hurry up and get here already.
