It’s about time Mellie Grant got her own secret love affair! The First Lady has been acting mighty shady recently, teaming up with Cyrus to try and get Fitz re-elected in questionable ways, and what does she have to show for it? Uh, not much, considering Fitz has been unable to stop telling Olivia he’s in love with her, and showing her a house he built for her, and all that. Plus, with Cyrus’s husband James now looking to divorce him, we’re thinking Mellie might need someone something less destructive to do.
Not that her work is going unnoticed: Between Mel and Cy, we’d bet they could run the country if they needed to. But isn’t it about time for her to have some fun? Shonda and company must’ve thought so, because as we mentioned a few days ago, TVLine is reporting a new love interest for FLOTUS, and the lucky guy has just been confirmed!
According to a December 6 exclusive, Michael Ausiello reports that Jon Tenney has been cast as a character named Andrew, and that ABC confirms he will be playing a “handsome and charismatic suitor” for our girl Mel G. Is this the real deal, or just another power play? Who knows, but it could be just the major push that Fitz and Olivia need to make things work.
51-year-old Jon has a long resume, with Major Crimes his most recent major job, continuing his role as Agent Fritz Howard from the long-running hit, The Closer. He’ll make his Scandal debut on the show’s February 27th episode, which kicks off the second half of its now-truncated season.
What do you think: Does he look like the right guy to sweep Mellie out of the Oval Office and into his ruggedly handsome arms? Tell us your thoughts below!
