Update (June 25, 2014):
Things are not looking any better for Columbus Short. TMZ reports the former Scandal star was in court today and has been ordered to pay his wife, Tanee Short, $17,005 a month in spousal support in addition to $4,542 a month in child support. He's also got to fork over $25,000 to pay for Tanee's legal bills. Ouch.
Original story (April 16, 2014):
And just when we thought Scandal actor Columbus Short was free of assault troubles…
TMZ reports Columbus, who recently faced battery charges after getting into a bar fight in March, has been served with a restraining order by his wife, Tuere Short, who claims the actor recently threatened to kill her then himself!
According to the restraining order, Tuere claimed a drunken Columbus got into a heated fight with Tuere on April 7 at their home. After taunting her, Columbus doused Tuere with a bottle of wine and then ran to the kitchen to get a knife, later pinned her to the coach and began choking her. She then said he demanded they play “Truth or Truth” and threatened to stab her in the leg if she didn’t answer correctly.
During their “game,” Columbus listed the names of men he thought Tuere was having an affair with. When she denied the claims, Tuere says Columbus put a knife to her throat and threatened a murder/suicide! As she tried to escape, Columbus slashed her car tire.
As per the restraining order, Columbus was ordered to move out of their house and police were present today to keep the peace. This past Tuesday, Tuere filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and is requesting sole custody of their 2-year-old daughter.
Sigh. Columbus was recently charged with felony battery charges from a fight that involved the victim making lewd comments about his wife. The couple appeared to have been working on their marriage, but it appears that’s no longer the case. We wish the best for Columbus and his family at this time.
