Columbus Short’s issues have yet to be handled.
The Scandal star — who will not be returning for Season 4 — was reportedly arrested on July 4th, and TMZ noted that marked his fourth time getting in trouble with the law in the past four months. Guess we know his (un)lucky number!
According to TMZ, Columbus was drinking a lot at the Katy Trail Ice House, a bar in Dallas, and a witness said he got up and looked like he was leaving without paying his tab. One of the bar’s security guards talked to him and Columbus reportedly got heated and yelled at him, accusing him of racism (the guard was also black) and a little fight broke out.
A couple of off-duty Dallas cops, who work at the bar on weekends, reportedly broke up the fight but the TV star is said to have then tried to attack the cops. Oh boy. The cops arrested Columbus for public intoxication and he was taken to jail. No word on charges or anything.
As one witness summed up the scene: "He was like a dog with a bone who wouldn't let it go."
Sadly, this isn’t even his first bar fight of 2014. A bar fight in mid-March led to a warrant for his arrest (but no charges). Then his wife Tanee McCall-Short filed a restraining order against him, alleging he threatened to kill her.
This kind of fighting isn’t really what they mean by “Gladiators.”
In other bad news for Columbus, he was recently ordered to pay his estranged wife $17,005 a month in spousal support, plus $4,542 a month in child support, and $25,000 for Tanee's legal bills. Sheesh. We’d want to skip a few bar tabs after that news too!
