Good news for Kerry Washington! The new mamma has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her role as political fixer extraordinaire Olivia Pope on Scandal.

This is Kerry's second nomination for Scandal. Last year she lost out to Claire Danes, but Homeland's shaky third season makes a switch-up in this category a real possibility and we have a feeling Kerry has a shot at the trophy.

That said, she's up against some stiff competition. Claire Danes is nominated again, and the Emmys sometimes like to stick to what they know. The other nominees are Lizzy Caplan for Masters of Sex, Michelle Dockery for Downton Abbey, Julianna Margulies, who has one before for The Good Wife, and Robin Wright, who won a 2014 Golden Globe for House of Cards.

Kerry isn't the only Scandal star celebrating good news today. Although the show itself wasn't nominated, Joe Morton got a nod as Outstanding Guest Actor for his riveting performance as Olivia's terrifying father, and Kate Burton got an Outstanding Guest Actress nom for her role as the murderous vice president.

Do you think Kerry will win this year? What about Joe Morton or Kate Burton? Sound off in the comments below!
