Sean & Catherine Lowe on Chris Soules’s Crash, Ben & Lauren’s Split — Exclusive

There’s a reason why Sean and Catherine Lowe are the Bachelor franchise’s favorite couple.

The Season 17 pair is simultaneously adorable and hilarious on social media, and only added to the cute factor with almost-1-year-old son Samuel Thomas.

Oh, and the most important thing: They’re still together!

Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell ended their 18-month engagement last month, leaving their predecessors as still the only Bachelor and his final pick left standing.

And when Wetpaint spoke with the Dancing With the Stars alum and his wife recently for their partnership with Chase Marriott Rewards Credit Cards, Catherine shares they were just as shocked by the split as we were.

“You never know what’s going on in a person’s relationship,” she starts, “but it is a sad thing when anyone breaks up in the franchise because you’re really rooting for them.”

The new mom, who tied the knot with her Bachelor hubby three-and-a-half years ago, details that she spoke with Ben and Lauren after they first got engaged.

“You just hope for the best for people, and they know what’s best for them,” she continues.

She adds, “It’s definitely a surprise, but they obviously made a decision that made sense for themselves.”

Another shocking development in Bachelor Nation of late is Chris Soules’s car crash, which took the life of a 66-year-old Iowa man.

Though the Season 19 star and Sean are friends, he admits he hasn’t spoken to him since the April 24 tragedy, which he calls a “terrible” situation.

The 33-year-old states, “I don’t know what I could offer by reaching out to him other than just giving my support.”

That’s not to say that he won’t “at some point.”

“I wanted to kind of let it breathe with so much going on,” the Dallas native explains.

“I know he has a court date coming up. I thought I’d wait for some of those things to pass.”

In the meantime, the Lowes have the farmer in their prayers.

“The whole situation is so tragic and sad on both sides, really,” he concludes. “Our hearts go out to everybody involved.”

One morsel of good news to come out of the last few months was the announcement of a new Bachelor spin-off: Bachelor Winter Games.

The competition show, set to air in winter 2018, will have former contestants facing off in Olympics-themed challenges.

So we had to know: Will SeanCat return to compete on the show?

”It would be hard to commit to something without knowing what it really is because you never know with those producers over there,” the Marriage Boot Camp alum reasons.

Sean is still not convinced that there won’t be some sort of “twist” that would turn him and his wife off, but if not, he’s in!

“If it was really a light-hearted fun game, then yes. Count me in. I think that’d be a lot of fun,” he says.

But right now, we’re all focused on Rachel Lindsay’s Bachelorette season. While Cat says they’ve only watched “a tiny, tiny bit,” she’s all-in on the Dallas lawyer.

She gushes, “I love the way that Rachel has handled herself.

“It’s just so much fun to watch a strong woman who is also so likable, and is respected by everybody. I love that about her.”
