"It's a huge episode, and it's also very terrifying. It's a really frightening episode," Joseph told E! Online. "I don't think you're going to be disappointed. We're going to go out real strong." We have no doubts given that The Originals has gotten both increasingly frightening and more compelling as Season 1 has progressed. We can’t wait to see what they have planned for us to close the season. (If it’s even half as good as the Vampire Diaries’ Season 1 finale — which ended with Katherine chopping off John Gilbert’s fingers — then it will keep us talking all summer.)
What else do we know about the Season 1 finale? For one, it sounds like at least one character won’t make it out of the episode alive. Joseph told Zap2it: "It all comes to a head. It really opens the world up but also it's fearless. They've never been afraid to kill characters that we like and they've never been afraid to let people do things that might make them unpopular, and both of those things will happen in the next two episodes."
Might one of those casualties be Klaus? The synopsis for the episode tells us that “in a desperate move to protect those most important to him, Klaus makes a heartbreaking decision.” Does that “heartbreaking decision” mean his (temporary, because let’s be serious) death? Or does it refer to another kind of sacrifice — perhaps, having to do with giving his child a life away from the French Quarter? The extended promo doesn’t give us many clues, but it definitely ensure one thing: our Tuesday night plans.
The Originals airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
