Nashville Season 1 Finale: What Did You Think?

Um, so. That happened. That being the Nashville Season 1 Finale, “I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive,” which aired on May 22. And between the strange bedfellows the end brought to our TV and the wounds we had dressed and then burst opened, we kind of don’t know how to feel about it.

When Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) sang that duet, we were torn. On one hand, it was a beautiful song, and their voices sound gorgeous together (although they have nothing on Gunnlett’s duet “If I Didn’t Know Better”). On the other hand, no matter how much Gunnar (Sam Palladio) has pissed us off recently, we hate watching him show up at the bar in time to see their onstage chemistry.

Oh yeah, and remember that one time when there was a FREAK CAR ACCIDENT because Deacon (Charles Esten) is DRINKING AGAIN and he and Rayna (Connie Britton) went rolling with the homies (aka the SUV) into a ravine? Yeah, well, we won’t forget it soon.

Or how about the fact that Gunns redeems himself by showing up after Scarlett’s evening out (did we imagine him hopping out of bushes?) and then PROPOSES TO HER!

Basically, a lot happened. There was stuff with Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) telling Teddy (Eric Close) she’s preggers, something with Tandy (Judith Hoag) we weren’t really paying attention to, because she like the third cousin we never call back, and Coleman’s (Robert Wisdom) stint as Deax’s sober sister came to a close.

Were there enough questions answered? We were wondering what Maddie (Lennon Stella) would do with her newly STOLEN information (that’s not yours, child) about who her daddy is. But then she had a little freak out about Teddy not being her pops, stormed off for a while, did the “I hate you mom I wanna live with dad” thing (we’ve all been there), and then came to terms with it all pretty quickly. Honestly? We would’ve just thrown a party if Mr. Mayor turned out not to have popped any genes into our spirals. So, we’re on the fence.

Did you love it? Hate it? Wish there were more questions left open to answer in Season 2? Are you frustrated by some of the decisions your favorite characters made? Tell us below whether you were satisfied, and then elaborate. Why, guys. Why’s the word.

Thanks. See you in the fall! Check back with Wetpaint (constantly) for updates on your favorite Nashville actors and spoilers for the coming season.
