Shane (Gaius Charles) just earned himself two mighty nemeses on Grey's Anatomy — Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justin Chambers) will align against him when Season 10 resumes on February 27, as Camilla explains to TVLine.
In the first episode back [Episode 13, "Take It Back"], which picks up right after the wedding, you see Jo being kind of a rock for Alex because he's furious about what Shane has done to his dad," she says. "He's distraught by it. And she's there for him."
In case you missed the midseason finale — Episode 12, "Get Up, Stand Up" — Shane thought he could handle a solo surgery when Alex's dad, Jimmy (James Remar), suffered a heart problem and needed an emergency sternotomy. But Shane froze mid-operation, crippled by fear and guilt over having kinda sorta killed a fellow intern. Richard bailed him out, but Jimmy is still in dire straits.
As Camilla teases, Jo is going to join in Alex's rage over the screw-up, having forged her own relationship with Alex's dad: "She's also ready to go [toe-to-toe] with Shane. She hates Shane. She's not for him staying at the hospital. So you see her get closer to Alex through that."
Of course a vendetta would bring these two closer. It wouldn't be Grey's if love blossomed through more typically-romantic means.
Grey's Anatomy Season 10, Episode 13 — "Take It Back" — airs Thursday, February 27, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
