Grey’s Anatomy Season 10, Episode 12 Review: What Did You Think of “Get Up, Stand Up”?

We ran out to get something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue ahead of tonight’s impending nuptials of April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Matthew Taylor — and we’re glad we didn’t miss any of the drama that went down before and during the ceremony. Check out Wetpaint Entertainment’s review of Grey's Anatomy Season 10, Episode 12 — "Get Up, Stand Up" — that aired tonight, Thursday, December 12.

Cristina (Sandra Oh) began to worry about Shane’s (Gaius Charles) overly dedicated attitude when it comes to his time in the hospital, especially after he spoke up for her at a press conference concerning their implantation of the 3D-printed conduit into newborn Nathan. Tensions between Cristina and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), as the press took photos of Cristina in front of the 3D printer as it was printing out Mer’s work — bringing about some epic death stares between the former besties.

Alex (Justin Chambers) was finally able to confront his dead-beat dad and ask him how easy it was to leave a wife and kids back in the day. Just when we thought that these two would finally have a decent conversation, Alex, as usual, exploded in a fit of rage. Natch. Later, when Alex came to his senses, he thanks his dad for leaving, saying he could have ended up just like him had his dad stuck around.

With things still a little icy between Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) — at least when they aren’t in the bedroom — things were getting even worse for Mer and Cristina. With April running about the hospital hunting down her bridesmaids, she finally got these two docs in the same room for a dress fitting, and things ended up as terribly as you could possibly imagine. As they argued, with Meredith calling Cristina a bad person, Shane busted in the room to let his lady know that she is under consideration for a Harper Avery Award. Crazy, right?

April running about the hospital brought the huge risk of running into Matthew before their big moment, and after an almost bumping into one another, the two shared an intimate moment where they professed their love back-to-back against a wall.

At the wedding, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) confronts her hubby about quitting his surgical residency, Arizona opened up to April about the status of her rebounding relationship with Callie, and Meredith and Cristina started to make the day all about their crumbling friendship. But leave it to April to have a little bridezilla moment to regain control over her big day.

Meanwhile, back at Grey Sloan Memorial, Shane and Leah (Tessa Ferrer) are forced to make quick decisions when Alex’s father suffers a huge setback. With Shane altering his allotted hours and getting a little cocky, putting Alex’s father’s life in the balance — and things aren’t looking good.

As April walked down the aisle, we thought this wedding was going to go down without a problem. After Derek got a life-changing phone call from the freaking President of the United States (we can only assume he’s being called to do some top-secret research), we were shocked when Jackson (Jesse Williams) had a last-minute feels attack and stood up to profess his love for April. Just as she’s about to speak, the episode ends. This epic cliffhanger is going to make sure we are unable to pick up our jaws until Grey’s returns in February.
