Tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy — Season 10, Episode 12: "Get Up, Stand Up" — may not be a full-fledged season finale, but as the last new episode of 2013 and the final glimpse of Grey's we'll get for over two months, it has to have a helluva ending to keep us on tenterhooks until February 27.
And from what Sarah Drew (April Kepner) tells Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide, the midseason finale delivers — so much so that the final moments made Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) scream when she read the script.
"It's shocking," Sarah tells EW. "It was really funny because when we were reading it, Ellen Pompeo, at the table read, just screamed out loud: 'What, what, what?!' It's shocking down to the last second. That was the cohesive reaction from the room. People were just like 'Oh my god!' It’s exciting. It’s really fun."
She gives a similar tease to TV Guide: "There are multiple pieces to the cliffhanger. We're hopping around during the last minute all over the place to the point that when we were reading it during the table read, Ellen Pompeo stopped the table read [in shock]. It's not just April's wedding that is wrapped up into that last five minutes."
And we'll still be reeling from that adrenaline upon the show's February 27 return. "We come back from the break with a hell of a lot of tension," Sarah hypes.
