A surgeon lost her job in Grey's Anatomy Season 10, Episode 23 — "Everything I Try to Do, Nothing Seems to Turn Out Right," which aired tonight, May 8 — and that hapless surgeon was Leah (Tessa Ferrer).
Luckily, Richard (James Pickens Jr.) convinced her that his letting her go was a "kindness," and she took the news like a champ. Still, it was sort of abrupt. The twist would feel a lot more deserved if we actually saw the ways in which Leah was falling behind.
Plus, we knew that Tessa won't be back for Season 11 — even though we still don't know why exactly — so that sort of ruined the which-resident-is-fired drama.
Meanwhile, we totally understand that Bailey (Chandra Wilson) was wrong to give Braden (Armani Jackson) the deactivated-HIV treatment against the parent's wishes — but can't they just appreciate the end result regardless of the means? Why do they have such an ax to grind?
In other news, we are so glad that Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) is wanting to stay in Seattle. Sure, she was a little grating first on Private Practice, but April (Sarah Drew) was grating at first on Grey's — and now we like them both. Plus, we totally want Caterina to stay on for Season 11.
Ladies and gents, hell hath no badassery like an Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) scorned. As much as we like it when she and Alex (Justin Chambers) are in the trenches together, we sorta love seeing them at war with one another.
OK, farts are undeniably funny, but come on, Grey's. That kinda humor is low-hanging toot fruit, right? Then again, on what other show would we hear the words "bionic butthole"?
And finally — that last moment. There's no way that Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) would move to D.C. forever — especially because Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey aren't going anywhere. But we wouldn't rule out them trying to make it work on the East Coast. After all, we're talking about the same show that sent Cristina (Sandra Oh) to Minnesota for a big chunk of Season 9.
