Grey’s Anatomy Season 10, Episode 4: 10 Things We Learn in the Sneak Peeks
Tonight marks the 200th (yes, you read that right) episode of Grey's Anatomy, and the show is going to celebrate in style with Season 10, Episode 4, which is appropriately titled "Puttin' on the Ritz."
How is the show going to ring in the big 2-0-0? We've got a rundown of all the biggest spoilers here, but now we want to take a closer look at the few glimpses of the episode we've been given to see what they reveal. Don't worry, spoiler-phobes: we won't mention any info not explicitly mentioned in the sneak peeks.
A Competition Emerges
First, you need to actually watch the clip we're talking about, which you can do here. Seen it? Good. Then let's get down to business.
The circus is in town. The fundraiser gala mentioned last week is underway, and it is anything but subtle. A circus is quite literally in the hospital.
Meredith is going a bit crazy. The clip opens with Callie and Cristina — who is apparently still in a chipper, comedic mood — greeting Mer, who has been MIA on maternity leave. She tries to appear upbeat for a hot second, but quickly admits that she and Derek are going a little stir crazy.
Bailey's not coming. Bailey is going to skip out on the gala, which is good for her, because she hates clowns.
Calzona tensions. Callie's response to learning that you're allowed to just not show up is to head for the door so she can avoid Arizona. Glad to see their marriage is still going downhill. (And by "glad," we mean "heartbroken.")
Jackson's challenge. Before Callie can hightail it home, Jackson intervenes with a big incentive to stay: He's giving 10 percent of the night's take to the department that raises the most money. Cue competition amongst friends!
And Derek has a head start! At the end of the clip Mer worries that Derek is "really good at this kind of thing," and it turns out she's right: he's already charming the crowd by juggling (a skill Patrick Dempsey actually has.)
Bailey and Richard
So, where is Bailey? Taking care of Richard, of course. And as we see in the sneak peek below, it's not going well.
Richard is fighting... Against help. As we see in the beginning of this clip, Richard is still fighting off the medical help the docs are trying to give him.
Bailey has another frustrating patient. Annoyed at Richard's refusal to fight for life, Bailey goes on a rant about an ornery, dying patient down the hall. "He is dying, and he won't stop fighting, even though there isn't anything I can do for him!" she declares. "And then there's you. You've got a million options, and you refuse to try."
That speech doesn't work. Bailey's moving rant doesn't work: instead, Richard resists Bailey's attempts to get him to use an oxygen mask and forcefully pushes her away. And when we say "forcefully," we mean it: She falls over! Whoa. We have a feeling this story is going to be hard to take.
