Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 Premiere: What to Expect

The time has almost come, to watch a lot of Grey's Anatomy. The Season 10 premiere (Season 10, Episode 1: "Seal Our Fate") airs tomorrow, September 26, with two hours of what we can only assume will be that classic Grey's mix of stressful medical situations, intense emotional drama, and sharp comedy. Beyond the basic knowledge that any Grey's premiere will be non-stop action, what can you expect when you tune in tomorrow?

We've gathered up the biggest things we know about the finale to try to paint a picture of what will go down when we return to the heart of the storm.

It starts right where we left off. You can watch the first two minutes of the episode here, and they're pretty darned spectacular, in a quiet before the storm way. We start with Richard (yep!) narrating, as we pan through the devastated hospital where our favorite docs are all in physical, mental, and emotional shock. Except for MerDer. They're with their baby, and they couldn't be cuter. Thanks for that brief flash of happy, show!

Then what happens? Here's the official synopsis of the episode, to whet your appetite:

In the first hour, "Seal Our Fate" (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital doctors are faced with the devastation left by the storm. A giant mudslide in Seattle injures a group of first responders and citizens, causing the already short-handed ER to spring into action. Meanwhile, Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] is faced with a tough decision that will affect the life of a loved one, Callie Torres [Sara Ramirez] is rocked by the reality of Arizona's [Jessica Capshaw] infidelity, and Richard's [James Pickens Jr.] life is in extreme danger.

In the second hour, "I Want You With Me" (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET), the fight continues to save those affected by the storm, Callie makes a bold decision regarding her relationship, and the doctors come together upon receiving devastating news.

Devastating news, you say? The docs coming together for "devastating news" is probably supposed to make us worry for Richard, but we actually have our eye on Intern Heather (AKA "Mousey"). In the sneak peek below, she ends up making what could be a fatal mistake when she rushes forward to help a still-passed out Richard in the generator room, apparently completely forgetting that electricity plus water equals bad news.

OK, let's talk Calzona. Everyone wants to know exactly what will go down between Callie and Arizona in the wake of their big, epic, possibly marriage-destroy fight. Callie's "bold decision regarding her relationship" seems like it could be bad news (is the bold decision divorce?), and this sneak peek doesn't make us feel any better about their chances.

Let's talk happy: MerDer and Baby Bailey. In adorable news, Baby Bailey — who, per the sneak peek above, might actually be named Jared (or is it Derek, after his dad? Hard to hear), with Bailey as a middle name — is around spreading joy with his adorable baby ways. Though you can expect some drama in the aftermath of his birth because duh, this is Grey's.

Other relationship news. As we saw in the first two minutes, things are still weird between April and Jackson. In better news, there is Jolex to look forward to.

New characters. Even with all of our main docs going through major life events, there's always room for a patient of the week or five. In the premiere it sounds like firemen will play a major role, with a focus on fireman Brian (Bobby Camp), a "young and dedicated fireman who is introduced after the scene of a major accident" and his fiancée Sasha (Heather Hemmens), a "tough cop with a good heart who is also involved in the disaster." Veronica Cartwright will also play a patient who presumably will metaphorically reflect what the docs are going through, or something.

What do you want to see from the premiere? Sound off in the comments below!
