Grey’s Anatomy Season 10: Should Derek Join the Presidential Initiative?
Sometimes it's hard being one of the most talented brain surgeons on the planet. Poor Derek was faced with a big decision during the Grey's AnatomySeason 10 midseason finale: he has to decide whether or not to join a presidential initiative on brain mapping. An initiative that wants him involved so badly, the president himself gave Derek a call. We know, so terrible.
While receiving a personal invite to continue important research with the backing of a ton of funding isn't exactly the worst problem in the world, it does create a dilemma for Derek. He promised Meredith that he would take a step back from work so that she could focus on research, but taking this offer would put him back in the spotlight.
So, should he do it, or not? We weigh the pros and cons, and then we want to hear your opinions in the comments below!
Pros. First of all, when the President of the United States calls you up to personally request your help, you normally do whatever he wants. Plus, it sounds like taking part in this committee would allow Derek to take his research further, thanks to a nice pile of mullah to help the docs out. So, not only would he be serving the country, but theoretically he'd be serving the world by adding to what science knows about the brain.
Cons. He promised Meredith he'd be Daddy Derek while she's busy with her potentially world changing research, and he seems to be enjoying his new, non-doctor duties. His research is progressing nicely at Grey Sloan Memorial, and he can continue to work on that at his own pace without getting involved in a project that will be dictated by someone else's schedule.
What do you think: Would Derek be crazy to turn this opportunity down, or should he continue to focus on his daddy duties? Sound off in the comments below!
