Meredith and Derek are taking some much-needed time away from the hospital in Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 — but knowing Meredith and her workaholic tendencies, she’ll be back at Grey Sloan Memorial in no time. But before MerDer considers returning to the hospital, maybe they should think about all the things they can do with their free time (well, as much free time as two children under the age of three will allow you to have).
1. Rekindle the spark. We’re not saying MerDer has lost their spark, per say, but two kids can really put a damper on the romance department. Remember when Meredith built an entire floor plan out of candles? Or when Derek and Meredith used to have steamy make-up sex in the on-call room? We think it’s about time these two re-kindled that spark that made us fall in love with them in the first place.
2. Catch up on their favorite TV shows. Now, we know two busy surgeons like Meredith and Derek probably don’t have time to watch TV, but now that they have a few spare hours in the day, we think it’s the perfect time for MerDer to catch up on the TV they’ve missed. Meredith could marathon HBO’s Game of Thrones (because she’s dark and twisty like that) with a pint on strawberry ice cream, while Derek catches up on AMC’s Mad Men. Of course, when they want to spent some time together in front of the TV, they can both watch AMC’s Breaking Bad.
3. Get active! Hey Meredith, remember when you and Cristina used jog together in the park? We miss that (and the subsequent snarking that occurred). Given that Meredith will have a wee bit of free time to kill, we’d love to see her take up jogging again. We know she has a tendency to get lost in her thoughts, so this is the perfect way to clear her head. As for Derek, well, he can go fishing.
If all else fails, maybe Meredith and Derek can finally buy that football team they fantasized about after the lawsuit settlement.
Catch the Season 10 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
