Grey’s Anatomy Season 10: 3 Things We Want For Meredith Grey

We still have many months until Grey’s Anatomy returns for Season 10, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Though we miss our favorite medical drama, it also gives us time to process the intense Season 9 finale and speculate what’s to come this fall.

Though we can speculate until the cows come home, we also have wishes and dreams for the Grey Sloan Memorial docs. We recently shared a wish list for Callie Torres — including focusing on her work instead of her wife Arizona’s infidelity — and now we’re focusing on titular doctor Meredith Grey. In the finale, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Bailey (yes, after Miranda Bailey) and should be happy, but then Shonda Rhimes threw a wrench in the plan by potentially killing off her father figure Richard Webber. There are many ways she could be affected by that, but for now, we’re just going to focus on what we want for Mer, regardless of Richard’s fate.

1. Focus on her family. We love that Meredith is so driven, smart, and a big presence in the hospital, but some of her problems with husband Derek stem from letting herself get too involved in other people’s business rather than reeling it in and focusing on herself and her family. With new son Bailey at home, it would be great to see her balancing him and Zola (plus time with Derek) and her work at the hospital. Even if Richard is dead, this is the ideal solution for her — not letting her life get out of whack, which has caused her many troubles in the past.

2. Branch out at work and home. Though we want her to balance her life, she needs to step outside of her comfort zone, too. As we all know (and love), Meredith and Cristina are super close and there for each other in any situation. Sometimes, however, it can be a bit much, focusing on each other more than their significant others, and it would be great to see them both have strong friendships outside of their “person.” With that said, seeing them have a little fun instead of 24/7 drama would be great — remember the dance parties of years past? It could happen.

3. Conduct a clinical trial of her own. So, it’s no secret that Meredith doesn’t have the best luck with clinical trials. She ruined Derek’s Alzheimer’s study by tampering with it in the name of Adele (R.I.P.), and Bailey’s study made her aware that she tested positive for a few genetic markers. Eek. However, with that behind her, she could conduct her own trial — either for Alzheimer’s, or something else entirely — and learn from her mistakes. She’s brilliant, and especially given that she does have those genetic markers, she’ll want to do this before she potentially loses her memories. She could still have work-life balance if she does this trial with someone, too. It certainly won’t be Derek or Bailey, so this could ultimately help Meredith form a strong bond with a new person. Two-for-one on our wish list!
