Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Is “Meredith-Centric,” Says Shonda Rhimes

Season 11 will really put the Grey in Grey's Anatomy — judging by what creator Shonda Rhimes tells TVLine.

"Right now, if you were in the writers' room, you would probably tell me that the theme is 'Meredith,'" she reveals. "Because all I keep saying is, 'The show is just about Meredith Grey [Ellen Pompeo]!'"

Yes, Season 10 may have been the Year of Yang, but Season 11 will show fifty shades of Grey.

"It's really a Meredith-centric season," the TV mastermind continues. "She's lost her 'person,' her [half-]sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else…"

In case you missed the Season 10 finale — and for shame, if so! — Mer's entire life was turned upside-down in the span of one episode.

Longtime BFF and soul mate Cristina (Sandra Oh) moved to Switzerland, dreamy hubby Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) wants to pursue a job offer in Washington D.C., and new head of cardio Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) just revealed herself to be Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) and Richard Webber's (James Pickens Jr.) daughter.

Futhermore, Mer only knows about two of those life-changers. We don't know if Maggie knows that she and Meredith are related — i.e. if she knows there's another Grey at the hospital — but we know Meredith doesn't.

Ellen Pompeo, sounds like a 2015 Lead Actress Emmy is yours to lose!
