American Idol 2014 Spoiler: New Twist During Hollywood Week!

After six episodes of auditions, Hollywood Week is finally here! Starting Wednesday, February 5, the contestants will prove if they have what it takes to go national.

As we all know, this is the time these folks make it or break it. In fact, according to some spoilers uncovered by The Idol Pad and American Idol Net, Hollywood Week is even more of a pressure cooker this time around than in previous seasons.

The reason for the added anxiety is the new “Hollywood or Home” twist. This means some hopefuls are rounded up in an airplane hangar after their feet have barely hit the hot California ground and forced to sing for their lives. According to the Idol Net article, approximately 60 out of the 200 or so hopefuls faced the music early.

Here’s what else we know about the upcoming episodes in Hollywood:

While many of the contestants chosen for this twist were reportedly the hopefuls who only got two out of the three judges to say “yes” during auditions, there were also a few that had garnered a unanimous vote. In other words, no one was safe from this twist. The singers who impressed the judges with their impromptu performances continued on while others were sent back home on what can only be considered the most heartbreaking whirlwind trip of their lives.

There are reportedly no twists here — just straight-up solos as we’ve seen in seasons past. However, American Idol Net does provide a few spoilers on some of the folks who make it through. One is contestant Majesty Rose, who we first met in Atlanta. She sings a killer version of “1, 2, 3, 4” by Feist. Spencer Lloyd, whom we saw during his audition in Austin, sings Ian Axel’s version of “Say Something” and C.J. Harris also makes a strong showing with Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble.”

There are no tips about this round as of yet, but one thing we know we’ll encounter for certain is drama, drama, and more drama!

Getting down to the nitty-gritty, about 80 hopefuls will be left to perform in this round. Each person will play an instrument or be accompanied by the Idol band. Once this round is over, there will be 48 hopefuls remaining.

Everyone knows this part, when either a star is born or a dream is dashed.Typically, the judges would cut it down to 30, but we hear this year’s trio are torn between hopefuls Neco Starr and Ben Briley with the boys set to spar against one another for that last spot.

What do you think of all the new twists? Sound off in the comments!
