Dancing With the Stars Season 17 Week 9: Best and Worst Performances

Dancing With the Stars Season 17, Week 9 upped the challenge level by tasking each remaining pair with two full dances: one regular individual dance, and one dance for the Trio Challenge. There was nowhere to hide and no time to waste in rehearsal.

Some dancers rose to the occasion and met the challenge with flying colors, and others were obviously out of their depth. Who rocked, and who might have to face the music soon? We've made our choices for best and worst of the night.

Best: Corbin Bleu, Karina Smirnoff, and Witney Carson, Trio Jazz

Is it fair that Corbin is so experienced in this style that he actually helped choreograph this dance? No, not really. But that doesn't change the fact that this really was one of the best performances we've ever seen on the show. Bravo!

Score: 30/30.

Honorable Mention: Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, Viennese Waltz

My, my, how Jack has grown. We haven't always agreed with the judges' high praise of this underdog, but this week we thought he earned those 10s fair and square. This elegant Viennese Waltz really was the best individual dance of the night.

Score: 29/30.

Honorable Mention: Leah Remini, Tony Dovolani, and Henry Byalikov's Trio Jive

Leah's Jive wasn't the most technically sound dance of the night, but it sure did make us laugh. This team get points in our book for actually executing a concept heavy dance well.

Score: 27/30.

Worst: Bill Engvall and Emma Slater, Charleston

We normally turn a blind eye to Bill's bad technique because his dances are so darned fun, but his lack of timing in this Charleston was downright distracting.

Score: 21/30.

Dishonorable Mention: Amber Riley and Derek Hough, Quickstep

We love Amber, but her injury is clearly starting to take a toll. There was nothing quick or sharp about this Quickstep.

Score: 24/30.
