Dancing With the Stars fans will see plenty of major changes when Season 18 premieres next Monday, March 17 — new band, new co-host, new/old pros — but they’ll also see some little changes.
Judge Bruno Tonioli tweeted on March 9 that he was on his way to Los Angeles for DWTS, saying he missed his American friends and fans and the spring "cast looks great and our dancers hotter [than] ever." Host Tom Bergeron replied, "AND (you'll love this, Bruno) they've moved the judges' desk back where it belongs! #FengShui." Tom was asked what that meant for the glitter pit, since the judges' table had been moved from the left side of the ballroom to the right, with the cast sitting next to the judges — just to Bruno's left — in the redesign. Tom tweeted, "Glitter Pit Kaput #DWTS18."
So there you have it. Maybe they'll bring the Celebriquarium or other backstage area back, since we now have Erin Andrews as the new co-host and one of the reasons we initially thought Brooke Burke-Charvet might be leaving was because they pretty much removed all of her job functions.
Speaking of Brooke, a fan asked Tom how he felt about how Brooke was treated. He tweeted, "I agree with her that the timing could have been better. As her friend I only have props for how she's handled it." Yep, Brooke has been all class about being let go in such short notice. But now she can watch the show with the rest of us and shake her head at any changes she doesn't like without having to pretend they are all wonderful.
Some of the additions may be great, though, since there's always something a little different about DWTS every season and we keep coming back for more 'cause we love it. As Tom also teased, "Spent a few hours annoying the @DancingABC producers yesterday. They've got some fun treats up their spray-tanned sleeves for Season 18." Fun treats sounds good!
Are you curious about how the ballroom will look this season, between the judges' table moving, a new band arriving, and Erin needing somewhere to do something?
