What does the promo tell us about the upcoming episode? We take a close look to see what it reveals.
Olivia defends her latest client. The promo opens with Olivia stating in a press conference that her latest client, Janine Locke, "absolutely, positively did not have sex with the president." It's nice that Olivia is trying to help this poor girl and all, but a hot second ago America was thisclose to finding out that the rumors about Olivia and Fitz's affair were 100 percent true. Is she really someone who inspires confidence in the press at the moment? Um, she's Olivia Pope. She can make anything work. We know this?!
No really, she's going for blood! "I'm going to go for blood," Olivia says into her phone, in that Olivia way of hers. Is she talking to someone on the president's camp, or is this about yet another new case? We're gonna put our money on the former.
And… so is Fitz? "Go for the jugular," Fitz says into his phone. What do you think: Part of the same conversation, or is he talking to someone else? Is this about his "war" with his wife? So many people are trying to cut so many other people, it's hard to keep track!
A significant closet opening. What is this, a Mad Men promo? The shot at :11 of Olivia opening a closet or something like that seems important, but it's basically meaningless with so little context. It does look like she's wearing the same white shirt as she has on in the "go for blood" phone call scene, so perhaps these moments are linked.
Morgue? Is that Olivia looking at a body in a morgue at :11? Sure seems that way to us.
What has the White House done? "Someone in the White House must have gotten to her." Hmm... Is the "her" in question Janine? The following clips of Janine picking up the phone and then getting into a black car suggest so, though those could be misleading.
Well, Mellie did something, anyway. The promo ends with Cy telling Mellie she's evil. "You're welcome," she replies. Clearly, she has done something morally questionable, but ultimately useful, kind of like she always does.
