Game of Thrones Season 3, Episode 8 Promo: 8 Things We Learn

Game of Thrones promos are always overflowing with information about the upcoming episode especially for book fans who can read between the lines — so it's worth taking an extra close look. Here's what we can learn from the preview for Season 3, Episode 8: “Second Sons.”

Dany vs. Dangerous men. "He's a dangerous man Khaleesi," Jorah warns Dany as a swaggering sellsword steps forward (is that Daario we spot in the background, BTW?). "They all are." Dany, being Dany, replies, "A man who fights for gold can't afford to lose to a girl." Later, we see said swaggering swagger sellsword tell Dany "you'll all be slaves unless I save you.

Missandei in danger. At :36 we see Dany's translator friend, Missandei, being held at knife point. That definitely doesn't seem good for Dany and her camp.

Stannis is back. "The darkness will devour them all, unless I triumph," Stannis tells Davos, who is still stuck in jail.

And it's bad for Gendry. At :25, we see that whatever Stannis's plan is, it's bad news for poor Gendry.

Put to the sword. "Every man woman and child put to the the sword," we see Cersei saying while standing with Margaery. Tyrion appears to raise his glass to that. Hmm. What do you think: Is she making a threat, or expressing a worry about what will happen if something goes wrong?

Drama in King's Landing. Tyrion is pissed, Tywin looks pissed, Joffrey is definitely pissed... Sounds like good times!

Arya and the Hound. Arya, who ended up caught by the Hound at the end of Season 3, Episode 7: “The Bear and the Maiden Fair," is traveling now but, despite his claim that things could be worse, she's not happy about it, and it looks like she'll attempt to kill him. Well, he is on her list...

Sam and Gilly. We'll check back in with Sam and Gilly, and Sam will go "out there" into the dangerous night.

Check it out for yourself below.

Catch the episode this Sunday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
