X Factor Ratings Plummet! Series Hits an All-Time Low

This has not been The X Factor’s week. First, a technology snafu leads to the first round of Season 3 voting going completely awry. Then, because of the glitch, the contestants must perform brand new songs less than 24 hours after their last Live Show, leading to questionable song choices and an all-together hurried, uncomfortable episode.

Guest performer Selena Gomez also got postposed, a move that likely didn’t help X Factor in terms of viewership. And now, to round out the week the show has hit a ratings all-time low and based on how poorly the series has done so far this season, that means ratings had to be pretty low.

This week’s episode posted only a 1.5 rating in adults 18 to 49, the lowest ever for a regularly scheduled competition episode according to Deadline. Whether that’s just for the X Factor or for all regularly scheduled competition shows isn’t clarified.

Either way, let the bad news sink in for a minute. Sunk? Yep, so’s the X Factor.

Despite hopes the show would rally after the World Series, which threw a wrench into the X Factor’s scheduling, the November 7 show was down 32 percent from the last X Factor episode aired before the World Series (October 9’s).

Needless to say, the folks over at Fox aren’t exactly pleased with the news. The show’s performance this season has been “disappointing to date,” the company’s COO, Chase Carey, said Tuesday.

Just wait until he sees this week’s final numbers.
