Revenge Season 3 Spoiler: New Characters Create “Conflicts” For Emily and Daniel — Exclusive!

We may have more than a month to go before the Season 3 premiere of Revenge, but that doesn’t mean that diehard fans of the show like us can’t live for spoilers about the sexy shoreside drama while we patiently wait for the new season to begin.

Wetpaint Entertainment chatted exclusively with Josh Bowman (Daniel Grayson) at the 2013 TCAs, and he told us all about Daniel’s new career path, possible new love interests on the horizon, and whether or not Danny Boy will ever find out who his (current) fiancée really is.

Check out the full interview below!

Wetpaint Entertainment: Where do we pick up when Revenge returns?

Josh Bowman: Oh, we pick up with Emily in a wedding dress. That's where you're going to pick up from. I'm not going to tell you anything else, but it's lighter this season. I think you're going to earn the drama more than having it splattered over every single episode like last season. It was so deep and complex, a very convoluted storyline. So it will be a lot more simple, fun, and I think the characters, we've all got a little more confidence this season. Season 3, we're definitely settled into what we want, and the show's probably a little more collaborative in terms of the writers' communications with the actors and all of us talking, so we know where we're going which is great. I think we're not kept in the dark as to where we're going. We actually have a clear path, which is nice. Then we can revisit every five or six episodes.

So where's Daniel when we cycle back?

Well, they're all broke, the Graysons. We've got no money. So he's looking for a job. A girl comes in who's a friend of his, and she's starting this sort of Vanity Fair type magazine, and he wants to be a part of it. He wants to be a little more creative in his job. He's left Wall Street behind, but he's still got those relationships with these people. So it's going to be interesting. It's going to be quite a bit of conflict with that character because she's this sassy, sexy French woman who's very, very ballsy and confident, and it's going to be a bit of a problem for Emily too.

In a love interest kind of way?

I don't know if they're going to be a love interest. I think they've got plans for another character in there possibly for her, but you'll see how that unfolds.

So Daniel has a knack for journalism?

Well, he's come from that poetry world. He loves writing. So I think he's going to become a publisher, and he's going to use his contacts with the investment world and start up this magazine. He's going to have part of the control of this magazine. I think he might use that against her eventually, and we'll see what happens down the line because it's going to be fun.

What about him and Emily? He seems to be in minority now of people who don't know that she's Amanda?

Yes, he seems to not know anything. It's been difficult to play that.

You're like the only human on a vampire show.

Right. Literally. What they say is that's the way he's going to be a little bit more in the know this season. They're bringing a character that is going to drive a wedge between himself and Emily. So you're going to see something towards the middle of the season, beginning to the middle, of him and someone. And I don't really want to say too much about it, but there's going to be a lot of conflicts between myself and Emily as well. I'm going to start catching onto her little midnight swims and little escapades, going off at night and doing crazy things, which is good. I mean, it's important, especially if I'm living with her. So yeah, that's going to be much more fun if you know what's going on. They’ll smarten him up and hopefully have a lot more fun. It's going to be a lot more sexy too. I think the first episode has three people with their shirts off.

Are you working out?

I had to work out a bit more.

As far as that love triangle goes, I think people are rooting for her and Jack, but at the same time, they never made her relationship with Daniel impossible. It's almost like we don't know what we want. What are your thoughts?

On that triangle? And what about Aiden?

So, love square.

Because I think I come last on the list, that's for sure.

Is there hope for anyone, except for Jack?

I don't know. I hope so. I think that's the aim of the show is for them to be together, but who knows. I don't know how the show is going to end up. Maybe they'll go to a different route, but I don't even know if I'll be alive then to even see them two together, but we'll see.
