It may be too early to tell, but we’re going to go ahead and predict that Revenge Season 3 will put the shoreside drama back on track and make it a staple in your TiVo once again after it premieres on Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET.
After an admittedly disastrous sophomore season we have high hopes for Season 3, which new showrunner Sunil Nayar tells TVLine is "two major seasons, with one mini-season smack in the middle of it.”
More specifically, the season will begin with that much-discussed flash-forward to Emily's wedding that Sunil says “will pay off in spectacular fashion in December.”
Last week we reported that the show would then break until March 9, but Sunil seems to be outlining a slightly different structure. Following the December reveal he says there will be “three amazing episodes in January that will launch us into our final eight," which presumably begin on March 9.
Scheduling aside, Sunil promises an Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) who is "more invested” in her sometimes forgotten mission to take down the Graysons. And who else is now likely to have good reasons to want to destroy the Graysons? That would be perpetually heartbroken Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler) who lost both his brother and wife thanks to the reckless Hamptons clan and now knows Ems’ true identity.
"In the premiere, we will establish what happened with Emily and Jack immediately following her great admission," Sunil states. "They haven't really been in touch, and there's a lot left to be resolved for them when we pick up."
Despite Jack’s initial shock over the fact that Emily Thorne is actually the real Amanda Clarke, we haven’t lost all hope for the onetime childhood besties. Sunil says once the initial tension dies down, there will be a "new dynamic between the two of them, one that is incredibly vital but incredibly unexpected."
