Once Upon a Time Spoilers: Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis Tease “Secrets of Neverland” — Exclusive
When we last left our favorite fairy tale characters, The Charmings & Co. were setting sail for Neverland with their enemies, Rumplestiltskin, Captain Hook, and Regina. In Once Upon a TimeSeason 3, we will not only see this new and mysterious land, but at least three new characters — Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and Ariel. (Yes, of The Little Mermaid fame.)
When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, the typically-vague co-creators opened up about the “secrets of Neverland” (including Henry’s shocking fate) and the "twists and turns" to expect.

Wetpaint Entertainment: We're headed to Neverland! So, how does little Henry make out?
Adam: Not well.
Eddy: He’s dead — sorry! [said jokingly] What happens to Henry and why Pan wants him is something we are very excited about. You know Peter Pan is one of our favorite fairy tales ever, so to be in Neverland and get to write that has been kind of a dream.
I was asking Colin [O’Donoghue] if he takes the lead once the ship lands in Neverland since he’s been there for so long. Will he?
Eddy: Well, he’s an authority, but that very question gets answered in the premiere. Which is how are these five people going to work together and who is the one uniting factor? I think what’s interesting is you have a ship full of people who all think they’re leaders. So, who is the one who says, “Stop it, I’m the leader.” And then you can say you’re the leader, but that doesn’t mean people are going to follow you.
As for the “Home Office,” what are Tamara and Greg up to this season?
Adam: That’s a great question. Last we saw them, they were jumping through a portal with Henry, and you know we’re going to see where they are going to land and what’s going to happen to them very quickly.
Eddy: You know, as Mr. Gold hinted, they didn’t know who they were working for, so you have two essentially fundamentalists who hate magic, they hate everything the show is about, and they’ve taken Henry, the person who started all of this, and they brought him to Neverland. So for us, you know, we’re very interested to see what they think when they get there.
Last season, we saw Snow struggle with having that dark spot in her heart. Will you guys be playing with that more this season?
Eddy: I think for us, what she said in the finale — that she took the easy path and now it’s time to take the hard path — means what Snow needs to do now is find the light. And not only find the light for herself, but help her daughter find the light. She was the first person who said the possibility of a happy ending is a powerful thing, and I think she’s going to have to live that this year.
Colin [O’Donoghue] and Michael [Raymond-James] both mentioned they have no idea what their character’s arcs are. do you guys have fun keeping them in the dark?
Adam: Do you know where you’re going in life? That’s what’s fun, and what’s hopefully exciting for them as actors — experiencing it as it comes so as they face the challenges of each episode, the characters are forced to develop.
What are you most looking forward to revealing to fans this season?
Adam: I would say for me it’s the secrets of Neverland and how that impacts the characters. I think we’re really excited about the story we’re weaving there — it’s got some twists and turns that we’re excited about.
Once Upon a Time Season 3 premieres on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
