Walking Dead Season 4: Andrew Lincoln Hints at a Softer Side of Rick

Being a single dad in a post-apocalyptic universe may have knocked the crazy right out of The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

Since the world was overrun by zombies, Rick has suffered quite a few setbacks and nothing rocked him harder than losing his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) during childbirth in Season 3. The father of two essentially lost his mind after Lori’s passing, hallucinating her image and taking all his anger out on Team Prison.

In the show’s upcoming Season 4 premiering October 13, however, we might just be treated to a new side of Rick.

"Rick did have a good reason [for being how he was in season three]," Andrew Lincoln told E! News. “But you see a different Rick this season. That's all I'll say. I mean, he's a man that's renounced leadership. He's stopped the brutality of the world for the sake of his children."

One thing inspiring Rick’s change of heart? His children, specifically 13-year-old Carl (Chandler Riggs) who is quickly losing his own humanity.

"I'm spending most of the season trying to keep [Carl] in hand," Lincoln said. "There's a bit of a single parent, apocalyptic parenting going on this season."
