Game of Thrones Season 4: Royal Shakespeare Company Actress Joins Cast

More news out of HBO’s Westeros Casting Central today. Sure, the role in question isn’t a particularly major one but hey, Game of Thrones news is Game of Thrones news, right? Plus, this particular bit of information seems to hint at where the plot will take us during Season 4.

The latest character joining the set will be Anya Waynwood, aka the head of a house loyal to the Vale and the widowed lady with the three sons Morton, Donnel, and Wallace. Morton is one of Lady Lysa Arryn née Tully’s (Kate Dickie) many suitors, Donnel leads the party that saves Lady Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) in the Mountains of the Moon, and Wallace, well, Wallace is just young.

Perhaps the most notable thing about the role is that it indicates we’ll be heading to the Vale and to House Arryn, which, as fans of the books/avid spoiler readers know, has a lot left in store as we move ahead.

Even though Lady Anya may not be a pivotal character in George R.R. Martin’s saga, the actress HBO has cast is hardly minor. Most recently, Paola Dionisotti appeared in Royal Shakespeare Company productions of class masterworks King John and Richard III, according to Winter Is Coming. She has also starred on television including on the British hit series Midsomer Murders. Clearly the lady’s got the acting pedigree we’d expect from any new addition to GoT. Welcome to the crew, Paola!
