Downton Abbey Season 4: Who Plays Baby Sybbie?

Season 3 of Downton Abbey took an emotional toll on us, most particularly that one episode in the middle of the series where beloved Lady Sybil Crawley (Jessica Brown-Findlay) left our world forever. One moment, she’s holding her beautiful baby girl. The next, well, let’s not talk about that right now.

Sybil’s tragic death nearly derailed husband Tom Branson (Allen Leech). Thankfully, he had newborn Sybbie to keep him going. Since her debut on the show, Sybbie’s shot up like a beansprout and now in Season 4, she even talks (mainly about unexpected hurricanes in the English countryside)! So who’s the adorable actress who so perfectly reminds us of her onscreen mother? Downton fans, meet Ava Mann.

This curly haired toddler comes from Kent and is the daughter of school dance instructor Chané Mann and her husband, who works as a civil servant. The couple decided to sign their daughter up to an agency just a few months before she claimed the role as Sybbie. Ava, however, didn’t let the sudden fame go to her head.

“After we drove to Highclere [the shooting location for Downton Abbey] she would have to rest and have a snack,” Chané tells The Daily Mail. “She always asked for mild cheddar cheese and Haribos and still mineral water.” No caviar and sparkling apple cider here!

To make this whole situation more adorable, Sybbie looks to get along swimmingly with her fellow costars and most particularly the twin boys who play baby George Crawley. The trio (or, you know their parents/agency representatives) chat each other up frequently on Twitter. It’s almost like they’re cousins in real life, you guys!
