With Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Tyreese (Chad Coleman) officially on the road to Terminus (with baby Judith in tow!) after the heartbreaking double murders of The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 14: “The Grove,” we’re fairly certain we’ll get a reunion of some sort in either one or both of the final episodes of Season 4. After all, Team Prison is headed towards Terminus (with the exception of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) who was absorbed into Joe’s (Jeff Kober) group of marauders after Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) was kidnapped). Beth probably won’t be checking into Terminus anytime soon either.
If all goes according to plan Carol, Tyreese, and Judith are poised to reunite with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), and Michonne (Danai Gurira), who were Terminus bound last we saw them, as well as Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), who are also headed towards the sanctuary as part of Maggie’s mission to find Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun).
Glenn is on the road with Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson), Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Dr. Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), and though Glenn is headed to Terminus to track down his girl, Abraham has other plans for his crew.
We don’t know exactly where Daryl is geographically, but his current group doesn’t seem like the Terminus type so we doubt they’re headed in that direction. Melissa McBride spoke with The Hollywood Reporter after Episode 14, and she was asked about how Carol might react when she finds out no one knows where Daryl is, assuming everyone manages to come together.
“She's worried about everybody in her group,” Melissa begins. “There's a part of her that believes he can handle himself alone but the threats in this world are so many and they're so horrifying. It's anybody's guess and there's always heartbreak with the hope in a way.”
It anyone can find his way to Terminus (and hopefully back to the group) we think it’s Daryl, so we refuse to give up on him unless we have a real reason to.
THR also asked about what a potential Caryl reunion would look like, and Melissa was very pragmatic in her answer. “Bittersweet, maybe,” she reasoned. “He's probably very curious about what happened with Rick and Carol and the banishment and all that stuff. But I think that they'd be very happy to see that they're still alive.”
Assuming they do reunite, there’s also no telling how Daryl will react to what Carol did to Lizzie, given he finds out. Daryl has always been fiercely protective of the kids, but at the same time he also knows that sometimes you have to do what needs to be done, despite how difficult it may be to stomach.
