With filming for Game of Thrones Season 4 well underway, now seems like a good time to figure out what we have to look forward to from our favorite characters in the new season. Based on what happens in A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series GoT is based on, we can make some educated guesses on how much screen real estate each character will occupy — and who will come out on top when it comes to minutes on film.

Tyrion Lannister. If we had to choose one character who will dominate Season 4, our money’s on Tyrion once again. He had more screen time than any other character in Season 3, which should have been a down year for him based on the books. Dinklage is the show’s biggest breakout star, so it’s no surprise that they keep finding things for him to do. Plus, next season, he actually does have a lot to do, what with being blamed for Joffrey’s murder and all, so he’ll likely come out on top again.
Jon Snow. Jon Snow is one of the show’s most popular characters, and next season should be his most important to date. Based on the books, he's going to defend the Wall against two wildling assaults, he’s going to find both new and old enemies within the Night’s Watch, he’s going to spend time with Stannis and Melisandre, and, oh yeah, he’s going to become the new Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. With so much going on, don’t be too shocked if next season turns into the Jon Snow Show.
Sansa Stark. While Sansa hasn’t had much control over events in her life up to this point, she’ll finally break free of King’s Landing next season. Of course, she’ll be stuck with creepy Littlefinger, but she’ll have a lot to do once she makes it to the Vale. She’s going to gain a new identity, that of Alayne Stone, and make some new friends (and enemies). Her arc becomes pretty interesting, so the show will likely devote quite a bit of time to developing it. We certainly hope so.
Daenerys Targaryen. While Dany shouldn’t really have a lot on her plate next season based on her story at this point in the books, that doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t still be on the show a lot. Just like with Tyrion last season, the showrunners find ways to keep their most popular characters busy, and we see no reason why they won’t do the same with Dany. After all, she does become a queen next season, and isn’t that kind of a big deal?
