American Horror Story Season 4 — “Circus” Theme Inspires Fan Posters (PHOTOS)

Don't work yourselves into a tizzy, American Horror Story fans: We're not saying that the theme for Season 4 is "Circus" or "Carnival." But that theory has run rampant online. And it makes sense: Tons of people find clowns terrifying, and sideshow "freaks" are often transfixing and scary in their own way. Plus, we know that Season 4 takes place around 1950, which was a prime era for traveling circuses.

The "circus" idea has inspired artistic of AHS fans to create posters around the theme — and the works of art are so good that they've even caught the eye of co-creator Ryan Murphy.

"I saw those posters," he tells Entertainment Weekly. "I don't know where people came up with that idea. Sometimes I think its people wanting us to do topics and doing fan posters. No one has completely guessed what it is."

We've rounded up our favorites and slotted 'em into this sideshow slideshow, so click through for the creepy creations!
